Previous conversation

His debut "Mukha" attracted a lot of awards at international competitions, including prizes for best film, best screenplay and several People's Choice Award. "Gromozeka" has already begun its march on foreign film festivals, but this premiere will take place only at "Kinotavr".

Our first conversation with Vladimir about this film took one and a half years ago, during a break between filming the director spoke about the work on the painting and its features. In anticipation of "Kinotavr" We asked the author to share impressions from the first showing of the film abroad and expectations of the Russian premiere.

Reporter:

In which international markets have already taken place showing the film "Gromozeka"?

The film was in the competition program of the 40th Film Festival in Rotterdam, then participated in the «New Directors / New Films», New York, and was shown at a film festival in Seattle. But these shows do not have foreign relations in the Russian premiere, held at "Kinotavr".

In fact, most viewers remember the movie story of his childhood: if it was a Soviet or not. And the children the freedom that with age people lose. This story is not only international and cosmopolitan absolutely, but eternal. It is close and understandable to all, regardless of place of residence and attachment to the next. Everyone understands that a film about the inspiration that comes to one man: insight, it is impossible to go on living in a constant lying, including himself. Heroes are trying to start a new life, but it's not all turns out. I was even surprised that foreign viewers are asked about it a midlife crisis.

Reporter:

What issues are most often asked audiences at international film festivals?

Frequently Asked why the film three characters? Many people think that this one person, just in different guises. Second question: I opened the subject of the Russian soul? And the third issue: if you do not want to leave the country?

Reporter:

And asked about the name of the movie: why "Gromozeka", which means this word?

They asked, and I explain that in the Soviet Union had eight top-ten feature-length cartoons. "The Mystery of the Third Planet" - one of my favorite movies is associated with it a lot as a child. And one of the heroes of the cartoon Gromozeka - this superhero-polurobot poluchelovek who always late. He always stays at the place of battle, when all was over, sighs and says, "Well, late again ..." And my all time heroes of late, at the same time - late to live. Even when you create the script I gave the film called "Gromozeka" and then have to come up with the characters names. And the other options were not.

Reporter:

According to your feelings and observations, "Gromozeku" have different views and accept the usual audience and professionals?

No, quite the same, because the painting was done on film language simple and clear. I do not have sophisticated directorial decisions. A simple human story told in simple human language - that's all. I understand that this sounds strangely in our century avant-garde, but still ...

Reporter:

That is, you think "Gromozeku" absolutely copyrighted film, and at the same time - the viewers?

Yes, such a combination is possible. For example, I find pictures of George Danelia absolutely copyrights, but they have become spectator hits.

Reporter:

Foreign spectators took the picture?

Yes, the film received and understood. The thing applause: applause at the credits, with no whistles, as it happens, just do not applaud limply, but rarely. After this movie, which makes empathy, the viewer a bit uncomfortable to applaud. And then when you go out on stage, have already got an ovation. Let's say, well written, Gavin Smith, describing in his article "Gromozeku" the best film of Rotterdam. And he invited the picture in New York.

Reporter:

Painting has been completed and started its life on foreign screens: Do you fear for your creation, you're worried before the Russian premiere?

I worry only about how the film will take viewers into Russia. I live, I live here. Therefore it is important to accept and understand their first. I generally have been surprising and even strange, that picture so interested in Rotterdam, focused on innovative, art-house cinema. After all, "Gromozeka" - the viewer's movie.

Reporter:

In our previous conversation we talked about the special color scheme - the effect of a faded film. Is there a visual picture of the solution has some features?

Since we have low-budget picture, we shot on 16mm film. And so when you print a copy on 35mm film emerged corn.
